Dampen a cloth with hot water and place it on top of the play dough. Don t get so aggressive that you damage the carpet. Pick up large or loose pieces of play doh from the carpet by hand. When it comes to play doh in your carpet it s not just the viscous putty that can get left behind.

Separate the carpet fibers slightly with your hands to reach bits of deep down play doh. But put a little elbow grease into it. Hydrogen peroxide will also effectively remove any discolorations caused by the playdough but should only be used on white carpet. The bright dyes used in the product may leave your carpet stained.

This will soften the play dough making it a lot easier to remove. Use hydrogen peroxide for stubborn stains on white carpets. The carpet and play doh will look frosted over. Although play doh may look like a mushy mess it doesn t have to spell complete disaster for your carpet.

If the remaining substance trapped in the carpet is still soft dab at it with a ball of pliable play doh ideally a white piece so it leaves no color behind. Treat light colored upholstery and carpet or any fabric with stubborn playdough stains by dabbing at the stain with three percent hydrogen peroxide. Brush the play dough off the carpet with a stiff brush to remove any small bits of play dough stuck to the carpet. Use a screwdriver or butter knife or something to chip away at the play doh.

Blot the stain gently until the remaining playdough residue is removed.
